Our clients make the world a better place. This time: Testmate Health, which was recently successful in being awarded Eurostars funding for a project worth a total of €2.7M.
What is the project about?
Testmate Health is developing a rapid home urine test for four common sexually transmitted diseases (STDs): Chlamydia, Gonorrhea, Trichomoniasis, and Mycoplasma genitalium.
The FASTDetection project is the result of a Swiss-Dutch collaboration between two SMEs at the forefront in their respective fields and a leading Swiss university clinical center. This project will enable the completion of the development of the 4-in-1 urine test to obtain fast and reliable STD test results in the privacy of your own home. The test kit gives customers the possibility to check their sexual health in a hassle-free way through an easy-to-use urine test that produces immediate results. The test can be conducted at a preferred location and time, such as online or during weekends, thereby reducing stress to the user and disease progression due to slow access to health care. Customers can skip long queues at clinics and do not have to wait several days for a result. Additionally, customers can then choose to share the results with their doctor via an app in order to receive treatment.
Through this collaboration with 3DUniversum (NL) and University Hospital Geneva (CH))CH, Testmate Health’s STD test will combine the most advanced microfluidics and DNA isothermal technology with the latest developments in image-based AI to create the first rapid home 4-in-1 STD test kit.
Testmate Health’s mission is to put patients in charge of their own sexual health by making accurate testing of sexually transmitted diseases easy and accessible. As Siew-Veena Sahi, CEO & Co-founder of Testmate Health, says, “Slow access to tests means slow access to health care. Accurate testing should be easy and accessible. This innovation will provide test results for four common STDs in minutes, to anyone, and without the need to leave home.”
