FFUND is proud to have assisted Liftya Health, Minbandagist Kompagniet, and Aalborg University in getting awarded the Eurostars grant (total value €1M) for their innovative approach to developing an dynamic AI-integrated power-assisted shoulder device for enhanced rehabilitation.
About the consortium
The DynAI-Brace consortium combines over six decades of MedTech R&D expertise to pioneer next-generation orthotic solutions. The consortium is led by LIFTYA, an NLC Healthcare Venture Builder startup headed by CEO Alberto Verteramo. It leverages Aalborg University’s cutting-edge biomechanics research under the guidance of Professor John Rasmussen and Minbandagist’s specialized manufacturing capabilities, honed over 20+ years of producing personalized orthoses. Together, these partners will drive the development of innovative, patient-centered bracing technologies, ensuring robust scientific leadership, seamless coordination, and transformative clinical impact.

What is the product about?
Today, over 100M patients are recovering from strokes, with up to 81% experiencing shoulder subluxation due to weakened or paralyzed rotator cuff and shoulder muscles. The DynAI-Brace project aims at restoring the daily mobility and independence of such patients, suffering from shoulder instability due to neurological conditions like strokes.
Current robotic solutions are immobile and limited to brief weekly sessions in specialized rehabilitation centres, but the consortium aims to develop a unique AI-driven robotic system that predict user’s intended movements in real-time generating controlled forces that assist natural shoulder movements.
DynAI-Brace’s lightweight and wearable technology, combined with the companion app, will enhance users’ mobility and independence, allowing them to perform everyday activities with greater ease and confidence, without the discomfort of traditional braces from the comfort of their homes.
How did FFUND help?
FFUND provided comprehensive guidance throughout the application process for this groundbreaking Eurostars project, which ultimately ranked first in the Netherlands. Even after the successful evaluation, FFUND continued to support the consortium to ensure the release of national funding.
Angela El Hebieshy, Associate Project Manager at FFUND: “Our role in supporting the DynAI-brace consortium extended beyond the successful Eurostars application. We provided hands-on support in drafting and finalizing the consortium agreement, ensuring compliance with both Eureka and local funding agency (RVO) requirements. This was a crucial step in securing the awarded funds and enabling the project to start on time. I truly enjoyed collaborating with the DynAI-brace team and am eager to see the development of their innovative project.”

Founder and CEO, Alberto Verteramo : “I was very impressed by the team’s knowhow in understanding in depth the project, the topic and our goals. I would highly recommend collaborating with FFUND.”
