€300K EIC grant awarded to Resistell for advancing AI-driven laboratory automation

FFUND is proud to have supported Resistell AG in securing €300,000 through the first stage of the EIC Advanced Innovation Challenges pilot. The funding will support ADAPT-AB, an ambitious project that brings together artificial intelligence, biological sensing and laboratory automation to accelerate antibiotic discovery.

About Resistell AG

Swiss medtech pioneer Resistell AG  is tackling one of today’s most pressing global health threats: antimicrobial resistance (AMR). Their mission is to dramatically improve the speed and precision of antibiotic treatment decisions. With its groundbreaking technology, Resistell aims to save lives and fight the spread of resistant infections.

About ADAPT-AB

Today, many laboratory processes are automated, but results are still mainly analysed once an experiment has finished. ADAPT-AB aims to change this. The project develops a closed-loop laboratory system that combines Resistell’s nanomotion sensing technology with an AI platform and laboratory automation controllers. The system will interpret biological responses in real time and automatically adapt experiments, helping accelerate antibiotic discovery and early toxicology testing.

By the end of Stage 1, Resistell aims to validate an integrated TRL 6 prototype and demonstrate faster, more efficient and more reproducible laboratory workflows.

How we worked together

Our role was to help Resistell shape the project into a clear and convincing application. This meant understanding the technology in detail, identifying the story at the heart of the project and ensuring that the scientific, commercial and implementation elements all supported the same message.

For us, the personal nature of the collaboration was one of the reasons it was so successful. We believe that good proposals come from knowing our clients well: understanding where they have come from, what drives them and what they are trying to achieve.

“FFUND has played an important role in Resistell’s journey. This latest win shows the value of having a partner who has stayed close to us, understands our story and knows our ambitions inside out.”

Grzegorz Gonciarz, Resistell

“Knowing our clients and their stories very well is an important part of how we work. Because we understand Resistell’s journey, technology and ambitions, stemming many years of collaboration, we could easily recognise what made ADAPT-AB special and tell that story in a way that felt clear, credible and true to the company.”

About the call

The EIC Advanced Innovation Challenges pilot supports high-risk, demand-driven deep-tech innovation. Stage 1 provides €300,000 for up to nine months to prepare and benchmark breakthrough solutions. Selected teams may later apply for up to €2.5 million in Stage 2. The 2026 Accelerating Physical AI challenge received 425 proposals.
