Topics in Horizon Europe 2023

The COVID-19 pandemic laid bare the vulnerabilities of our society, economy, and healthcare systems and stressed the importance of investing in research on health threats, people’s mental health, and on healthcare system resilience. Infectious diseases remain a major threat to health and health security in the EU and globally. Research projects involving international partners should lead to increased scientific knowledge and transfer technologies among partner countries, thus creating sustainable growth and jobs.

Horizon Europe 2023 thus concerns topics aimed at supporting activities that enable or contribute to tackling diseases or increasing knowledge on viruses with epidemic potential. Proposals should concern preparedness against future health threats and all could help support the development of skills in research or health systems, new technologies, and the strengthening of international research and innovation.
