Recently, we hosted our first FFUND webinar. Our own David Alonso Amado spoke on the changing Horizon Europe funding landscape, and on how applicants can prepare for the Horizon calls ahead. FFUND’s Filipa Carvalhal Marques had the pleasure of moderating the session.
What participants learned
David explored the evolution of funding priorities within Horizon Europe, upcoming opportunities for 2027 and the growing use of AI in proposal preparation. His practical advice focused on choosing the right call, building a committed consortium and developing a clear, evidence-based proposal. Over the course of the webinar, David stressed the importance for SMEs to define a realistic role that fits their capabilities and business plans, without overpromising.
During the interactive part of the webinar, participants asked how to find suitable international partners, what lump-sum funding means for work-package planning, and how an early-stage deep-tech SME can contribute to a health consortium. We also discussed where to find early information about future calls.
